Freight Rail Delivers Green Transportation

What’s the most environmentally–friendly way to transport goods? The answer is freight rail. Because greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are directly related to fuel consumption, railroads have a lower carbon footprint. In fact, moving freight by rail instead of truck reduces GHG emissions by 75 percent, on average. Check out our carbon calculator to estimate the amount of carbon dioxide that can be prevented from entering our environment by using freight rail instead of trucks. We’ll even tell you how many seedlings you’d need to plant to have the same effect.
