Railroad Spending Enhances Safety
$550 Billion Investment Helps Keep Employee Injury Rates Down


The rail industry’s commitment to the safety of its more than 180,000 employees is continuous. Increased investment in infrastructure and equipment as well as rigorous safety training programs and partnerships; safety-enhancing technologies; and special operating procedures have helped railroads to reduce employee injury rates by 84 percent since 1980 and 47 percent since 2000.
