Delivering the Energy for Louisiana’s Economy

As the top refiner of crude oil in the nation – as well as the second largest producer of natural gas – the State of Louisiana relies heavily on its railroads. In addition, railroads carrying the state’s five major ports are responsible for more than 25 percent of the nation’s waterborne exports. Louisiana also holds the distinct honor of being home to the longest railroad bridge in the United States, Norfolk Southern’s Lake Ponchartrain Bridge, which spans nearly 6 miles.
