Giving Thanks to Railroads

Massachusetts has the distinct honor of being home to the first Thanksgiving celebration and the first railroad in the nation. While the Granite Railway Company did not begin operations until more than 200 years after the Pilgrims celebrated that first Thanksgiving in Plymouth, railroads today play a critical role in delivering Thanksgiving favorites such as potatoes, turkeys and corn to your table. So, at next year’s Thanksgiving feast, give thanks for the nation’s railroads.
